Abstract

Sigma metrics merupakan bagian dari Pemantauan Mutu Internal laboratorium, yang dapat mengukur tampilan proses dan outcome yang dihasilkan laboratorium secara kuantitatif. Sigma metrics dapat mengukur error yang terjadi persatu juta peluang. Sigma metrics dapat mengukur proses analitik, dengan mengukur koefisien variasi, bias, dan Total allowable error (TAE). Sigma yang diharapkan adalah six sigma atau lebih, yang menjamin hanya 3,4 error persatu juta peluang dan merupakan world class quality.. . Proses pemberian masukan dilakukan untuk perbaikan kualitas jika sigma kurang dari enam..Laboratorium dengan six sigma dapat membuat perencanaan kontrol kualitas yang baru dengan aturan Westgard yang lebih longgar sehingga dapat mengurangi pemakaian bahan kontrol dan kalibrator. Hal ini sangat bermanfaat untuk efisiensi biaya laboratorium. Hasil six sigma dapat memberikan kepercayaan bagi klinisi dan pasien, meningkatkan efektivitas penggunaan kontrol dan kalibrator laboratorium, serta peningkatan kontrol kualitas laboratorium
