Abstract

Diabetes melitus adalah gangguan metabolisme kronis yang ditandai dengan hiperglikemia. Menurut WHO, sekitar 463 juta orang di seluruh dunia mengidap diabetes pada tahun 2014. Indonesia merupakan negara kelima dengan jumlah penderita diabetes tertinggi dan diperkirakan akan meningkat pada tahun 2045. Dengan meningkatnya jumlah penderita diabetes, maka angka kejadian komplikasi diabetes juga meningkat. Komplikasi jangka panjang dari diabetes melitus adalah ulkus diabetikum. Di Indonesia, ulkus diabetikum telah mencapai 25% dengan angka kejadian pada DM sebesar 15-25%. Beberapa faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi kejadian ulkus diabetikum antara lain usia, lama menderita DM, kebiasaan berolahraga, kepatuhan minum obat, penggunaan alas kaki, perawatan kaki, riwayat ulkus, dan dukungan keluarga. Ulkus diabetikum sering kali memerlukan pembedahan untuk meminimalkan nekrosis jaringan dan mengangkat jaringan yang terinfeksi. Pencegahan dan perawatan lebih lanjut penting untuk meminimalkan kekambuhan.
